One of William Edward and Madge Schmidt's seven children (see Schmidt Line), Malcolm's WWII Army service is confirmed via a U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records entry, processed through Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, California — consistent with the family's move to San Diego County in the late 1920s. No unit or theater of service recorded yet.
The youngest of William Edward and Madge's seven children. A family note from the 1997 Schmidt Reunion records that Don enlisted as a private on January 20, 1943, in Los Angeles, and died sometime in the 1980s of lung cancer. His formal WWII Army Enlistment Records entry is dated January 27, 1943 — a week later than the reunion note's recollection, likely reflecting a gap between enlistment and processing rather than a real conflict.
Son of Kenneth Schmidt and Nellie Florence Bowland (see the Bowland Line), and later husband of Marylyn J. Seitzberg (see the Seitzberg Line). Richard's Navy service is the best-documented of the WWII-era entries here — ten separate muster roll entries between July 1944 and March 1946 place him consistently on active service through the end of the war and into 1946, aboard the attack transport USS Sumter (APA-52), which carried him through the Palau, Lingayen Gulf, and Okinawa landings. Confirmed as a veteran via a VA Death File record, with a March 1942 date suggestive of WWII-era service — branch not yet identified from the sources on hand. Robert married Geraldine Anna Barth in Peoria in 1946; his parents were William Eaton LaBarr and Mary A. Gardiner. He shares Peoria, Illinois with the Seitzberg family, but no direct link between the LaBarr and Schmidt/Bowland/Seitzberg lines has been established yet — included here because the service record surfaced in the same GEDCOM search, not because the family connection is confirmed.
Mary Catherine Dudley's great-great-grandfather (see the Dudley Line), and by four generations the family's earliest confirmed veteran of any conflict. Aaron's two enlistments and Revolutionary War service are recorded in his own sworn pension declaration and independently verified word-for-word against Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War, Vol. 2 (Boston, 1896), p. 276. Aaron married Anne Ellingwood on February 16, 1779. His birth date and parentage (son of William Booker and Dorcas Moore) are independently confirmed via Maine, Births and Christenings, 1739–1900. His death date is not yet established from a primary source — a specific date circulates on FamilySearch without a citation and hasn't been adopted here — so no death year is given above.
